In preparation for Thursday’s Europa League match against Omonia Nicosia, Manchester United may change up their starting lineup.
Anthony Martial appears certain to be dropped from the starting lineup. The Frenchman only played for 30 minutes against Everton on Sunday despite scoring three goals in his previous three games.
It was his first start for United this year, but due to the injury he sustained at Goodison Park, it would be quite unexpected to see him included in the starting lineup on Thursday.
The most likely replacement for Martial, with Marcus Rashford expected to keep his spot, is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has started each of the first three Europa League games. Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho might be recalled.
In the last two games, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Christian Eriksen began in the middle, thus a change in lineup might allow Scott McTominay to start again.
The fact that he will miss the weekend match against Newcastle because of suspension makes his prospects look excellent.
Luke Shaw took the left-back position away from Tyrell Malacia last time out against Everton, but the Dutchman might get another chance to make up for his subpar performance in Cyprus the week prior.
Although Raphael Varane made a brief appearance against Everton, it appears that Diogo Dalot will keep his spot. Ten Hag may also keep Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez at center back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, and Donny van de Beek continue to be sidelined due to injury.
