The FIFA World Cup continued today with its round of 16 stages as the title defenders, France took on Poland.
And just as the chase for the title continues, the race for the tournament golden boot also continues. And with Argentina duo, Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez finding the back of the net yesterday to grant their country a spot in the quarter finals, France duo Kylian Mbappe and Giroud with also Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, were also hoping to increase their chances of securing the award.
This tie between France and Poland began with a goal Giroud at the 44th minute which gave France the lead and also made Giroud the top scorer in France men football team’s history.
At the second half, Mbappe added two goals to France lead which saw him secure the top spot in the golden boot race. Lewandowski, on the other hand was able to bow out of the competition with a goal at the late minutes of the game.
