Manchester United must put their Emirates defeat behind them in midweek when they travel to the City Ground for the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

The resurgent Red Devils’ momentum has been halted in recent weeks, with only one point from trips to Crystal Palace and Arsenal. Erik ten Hag’s side, on the other hand, has made light work of the Carabao Cup thus far, and their campaign continues on Wednesday night.

To set up this semi-final match, Forest defeated Wolves in a dramatic quarter-final penalty shootout. Steve Cooper’s team is on the rise, and they’ll be confident of surprising their opponents at home.

Casemiro will return to Ten Hag’s starting lineup after missing Sunday’s game at Arsenal due to suspension. The Brazilian should take over for Scott McTominay, and Fred could replace Christian Eriksen.

Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot are getting closer to returning, but they are unlikely to play on Wednesday. Jadon Sancho, who returned to training last week, could also make the matchday squad.

How Manchester United could lineup in this match:

Formation 4-2-3-1: De Gea (GK), Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Malacia, Casemiro, Fred, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford; Weghorst.
