Cristiano Ronaldo has been talked about since midweek, after walking out of the stadium before the final whistle in the game between Manchester United and Tottenham.
Ronaldo would miss today’s game at Stamford Bridge, and reports are claiming that the Portugal international may be released by Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Todd Boehly is a huge fan of Ronaldo, and tried to sign him during the summer transfer window. However, Thomas Tuchel wasn’t interested in the deal, which led to a fallout between the pair.
Rumours are now claiming that Ronaldo could join Chelsea in January.
Asked if Boehly would try to add Ronaldo to the Chelsea forward line, Potter told Sky Sports: “I never speak about players that aren’t’ Chelsea players.”
Graham Potter masterminded a 2-1 victory over Manchester United earlier this season, while as Brighton manager, but the Chelsea manager isn’t holding on to that feat, as he insists Manchester United are a top side.
The Chelsea manager added: “They’re Manchester United, they’ve invested a lot of money over a number of windows to assemble a squad of huge quality and whoever plays for Manchester United they’re top players.
“We understand that but we have to be ready ourselves, we’re looking forward to the game it’s against a top team but we need to show our quality as well and that’s what they’re their for.”
