Mikel Arteta has put a smile on Arsenal’s fans considering the performance of the club this season.

Though the league is on break due to the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup that will hold in Qatar. With the Gunners sitting in the first position in the Premier League table, five points above Manchester City and its current form, the club is tending towards winning the Premier League for the first time in eighteen (18) years.

Considering the trend of Mikel Arteta as the Gunners’ manager, he is following the path of the club’s former manager, George Graham who rebuilt the club for three (3) years before he led it to win its first title in eighteen years.

George Graham was appointed as Arsenal’s manager in March 1986 after a successful spell at Millwall.

Having rebuilt the club for three years, in his third season at the club, 1988-89 season, he led the Gunners to win the league. The club won the final game of the season by 2-0 goals against the holder, Liverpool to lift the trophy for the first time since 1971.

Mikel Arteta seems to be following George Graham’s steps as the Spaniard is in his third season at the club.

If Mikel Arteta leads Arsenal to lift the Premier League come May 2023, he will be the first manager in eighteen years to lead the club to win the league, repeating George Graham’s history.
