Arsenal FC currently sits in the first position in the Premier League table and a win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday will enable the club to retain the position till when the league resumes on December 26, 2022.
It would be recalled that all leagues in Europe would be suspended due to the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar.
Some players would represent their national teams during the World Cup. A critical look at the chances of each national team in the FIFA World Cup, it can be said that it is a blessing in disguise for the Gunners to win the league than for Manchester City to win it come May 2022.
Firstly, even though the national team that will win the competition cannot be said now, but some national teams are more favourites than others.
For instance, teams like Brazil, France, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Netherlands and Argentina are some of the favourites.
So, the early elimination of some national teams the Gunners’ players will play for will enable them to have enough rest ahead of December 26, 2022, when the Premier League resumes.
Also, almost all of Manchester City’s players were called up by their respective national team coaches to represent their countries in the forthcoming World Cup, unlike Arsenal FC which has fewer players called up for the FIFA World Cup.
No doubt, there will be fatigue for Manchester City players who will represent their countries in the competition.
Fortunately, Arsenal has prepared for friendly games to keep its players, who will not go for the World Cup, fit during the competition.
Finally, the first eleven chances of Arsenal FC players in their national team compared to that of Manchester City players is slim.
Most Arsenal FC players may not make their teams’ first eleven and this gives them the chance to rest better than Manchester City players who have the opportunity of being included in their national teams’ first eleven.
