Erik ten Hag led Manchester United team were in action yesterday in their final group game of the current UEFA Europa League campaign away from home against Spanish La Liga Santander giant Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena.

The Red Devils in the game gave a good fighting spirit as they fought hard to secure a one nil away win but was not enough to leapfrog the host of the night at the top spot on the table, thereby settled for the second spot which will see them playing in the play-off with their opponent to be known next Monday when the draws are made in Nyon Switzerland.

The game was such a thrilling encounter between the two sides with only one goal scored by Alejandro Garnacho in the 17th minute been enough to separate the two sides going into the half time break which ended one nil.

The tempo of the game got more heated up in the second half as they both stepped up their game with some more dazzling displays but none was able to found the back of the net with all attempts to do so proving abortive, as it ended one nil at full time.

With Alejandro Garnacho’s only goal of the night, he has now became Manchester United’s youngest non-English goalscorer in the competition aged 18 years and 125 days.

As such, he has now surpassed George Best who did the same thing while he was 18 years and 158 days against Djurgardens IF in 1964.

Alejandro Garnacho with his great influx of influence in the team will now be hoping to maintain the standard for his team in their next game as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
