Manchester United will play three challenging games against London clubs in the second half of October, putting their prospects of finishing in the top four to the test.

The Red Devils survived their derby setback to Manchester City on Sunday by playing with grit and determination against Everton, moving up to fifth in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag’s squad rallied back to win 2-1 on goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony after losing an early lead. United is currently a work in progress, but since they are creating something under Erik Ten Hag, it will be interesting to see how things pan out.

They currently only have a one-point deficit to the top four, and important games in the coming weeks may allow them to close that gap.

Ten Hag’s team visits Newcastle United on Sunday before commencing a stretch of games against London clubs that will be a big predictor of their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. Let’s take a look at the day’s itinerary.

Man United vs Tottenham -October 19

Tottenham defeated Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday by a score of 1-0 after recovering from their loss in the north London derby. If United want to share goals with Spurs, who are a true top-four challenger under manager Antonio Conte, they must win these kinds of games.

Spurs defeated United 6-1 at home in October 2020, but United has since won three consecutive games, outscoring Spurs 9-3. If they can keep Harry Kane quiet, the Red Devils’ defense stands a good chance of securing another crucial three points at Old Trafford.

Chelsea vs Man United – October 22

After sweeping Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at home on Saturday, Chelsea moved into the top four and will now be a challenge for United.

The situation has been brought under control by Graham Potter, the new manager at Stamford Bridge, who will be eager to see his team upset the Red Devils and make a statement.

Nine Premier League games later, versus Chelsea, United have won three and drew six of them since November 2017. The previous four contests have all resulted in draws, and this one is predicted to be equally tight.

Man United vs West Ham United – October 30

West Ham have won two straight games after a rocky start to the season, moving them up to 13th in the standings. They showed amazing resilience to come back from a goal down to upset Fulham 3-1 on Sunday.

They are currently aiming to climb the rankings to the top 10. The Red Devils have won four and drawn one of their past five encounters with West Ham. Their most recent confrontation will be seen as yet another game they can win.

Since David Moyes’ team has the talent to cause problems for most opponents, United will need to perform at their highest level to have any chance of winning the match.
