The most awaited and anticipated mouthwatering international friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Portugal is set to take place this Thursday at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon, which will be a final test and preparation for the Selecao going into the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.
With the game expected to be a thrilling and keenly contested encounter between the two sides, Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro released the list of invited players for the game few days ago which has now turned out with a bit of twist.
The altercation in the list came after the confirmation that Olisah Ndah and Victor Osimhen have been ruled out due to injury and are now been duly replaced with Chidozie Awaziem and Cyriel Dessers respectively.
With this change in the list, here is a strongest starting XI line-up for Nigeria that could give the Super Eagles a win in their first ever meeting with the Fernando Santo’s side:
Omonia Nicosia’s Francis Uzoho is expected to be in between the stick at the heart of the goalpost considering his current and consistent run of form most especially under their new manager where he has established himself as the preferred number one choice of goalkeeper, with Watford’s William Troost-Ekong and Hoffeinhem’s Kevin Akpoguma to pair at the central defence alongside Ajax Amsterdam’s Calvin Bassey and Empoli’s Tyronne Ebuehi to be deployed at the left-back and right-back position respectively to complete the four-man defence line.
The midfield trio of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, Everton’s Alex Iwobi and Southampton’s Joe Aribo could be deployed at the heart of the centre-field with Ndidi playing more of the defensive role and the other two playing more of the offensive role thereby helped to get the ball advanced upfront.
The attacking trio of Atlanta’s Ademola Lookman, Nantes’ Moses Simon and Lorient’s Terem Moffi could be deployed at the heart of the forward line with Moffi playing as the main hitman upfront and the other two playing from the right-wing and left-wing position respectively in the 4-3-3 formation.
