Joao Cancelo fired the home side ahead after 20 minutes with a fine strike on his left foot, before in-form English midfielder, Phil Foden extended the Manchester based outfit lead with a clinical finish after being teed up by Kelvin De Bruyne.
The Citizens put the game beyond the reach of with second half goals from Riyad Mahrez & Erling Braut Haaland to overtake Arsenal on the log.
Chelsea cruised to an easy 2-0 victory against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
Graham Potter’s men dominated the match from the first whistle & deserved to go a goal up when Mason Mount teed up Kai Havertz at the back post on the stroke of half-time.
Wolverhampton Wanderers on the other hand offered very little going forward & looked uncertain in defence, The West Londoners took advantage and punished them with a quick counter attack that saw Christian Pulisic perform a give and go with Mason Mount, before finishing neatly from a tight angle to make it 2-0.
Armando Broja finished off the game for the Blues with a thunderous third.
Newcastle got their second win in a row in the Premier League with a 5-1 win over Brentford at the St James’s Park.
Brentford thought they’d taken the lead just 10 minutes in when Mbemo’s shot deflected in off Pope, but VAR intervened as Toney disrupted play from an offside position, Bruno Guimaraes did break the deadlock with a stooping header for Eddie Howe’s men & also got their second after David Raya gifted the ball to Wilson who picked out Murphy to tap in.
The game changed in the second half with Ivan Toney getting one back for the Bees off the penalty spot, but the Magpies almost immediately restored their two goal cushion through Bruno Guimaraes.
Almiron and an own goal sealed the win for the Magpies.
