Chelsea took on Salzburg in Red Bull Arena Austria. The Blues need a win against the Austrian side to go through the next stage. Graham Potter made four changes in the team that started against Manchester United last week.
The Blues took an unconvincing lead through Mateo Kovacic’s goal in the first half. Salzburg was the better team in the first half.
Let’s take a look at the two best Chelsea players in the first half despite their woeful display against Salzburg.
1. Mateo Kovacic scored the only goal in the first half. The Croatian midfielder was arguably the best player on the pitch against Salzburg. He made dangerous runs and made important tackles in the first half only.
2. Kepa Arrizabalaga continued with his impressive form under the new manager. The Spanish goalkeeper made some important saves in the opening 20 minutes of the first half to keep the Blues in contention.
