Paris St. Germain played out a disappointing draw in their crucial Champions League clash against Benfica on Wednesday night. It wasn’t the best performance from Galtier’s men, and the manager would be unhappy with the outcome of the game.
Paris St. Germain started the game on the front foot as it took them just 22 minutes to find the back of the net. Lionel Messi’s spectacular curling strike from the edge of the box managed to beat Benfica’s goalkeeper. However, the lead didn’t last long as Benfica managed to grab an equaliser before the end of the first half.
Paris St. Germain was desperately searching for a goal in the second half to snatch all three points only for Galtier to take off Lionel Messi. It came as a rude shock that Galtier decided to take off his most dangerous player in such a crucial time of the game.
Lionel Messi was quite disappointed with the manager’s decision to take him off in the 81st minute when the team was searching for a winning goal. The talented attacker had a grim look on his face to show his disappointment.
I guess Lionel Messi was right to be disappointed after Galtier substituted him against Benfica because he was inarguably the best attacker on the pitch. It would have been a different case if he wasn’t having a good game.
